After a public beta for testing for a few months, Apple is going to make iOS 9 available this Wednesday on September 16th 2015. Every iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users can download and install it. One thing you have to keep in mind is that you have to back up of your iPhone before updating to iOS 9 just in case something goes wrong. Since Apple has illustrated with details about how to sync iPhone to iTunes and create iTunes backup file, I am not going to repeat the steps. Instead, I am going to introduce how to back up iPhone to Mac before updating to iOS 9 through iFonebox.

Now let’s get down to the detailed steps.
Step 1: Install and Connect
Install the full version of iFOnebox and launch it. Please make sure that you have download the right version as there are two versions of iFonebox, the Windows version and the Mac version, choose the right version according to the computer and the operating system you are using. Then connect your iPhone to your Mac computer and click the popped up button of “Start” after your iPhone is recognized by iFonebox. Tips: If your iPhone is not detected by iFonebox, please check whether you have unlocked your iPhone with the passcode, and whether you have hit “Trust this computer “on your iPhone screen.
Step 2: Choose Data Category
iFonebox will show you an interface listing all the supported data categories for you to choose. Click on the data category you want to export and transfer. If just want Contacts or notes or messages or photos only, for example, you can just click on the icon for the data category selectively. Or if you want to export and transfer all the supported data to your Mac computer for backup before the iOS 9 update in case of accidental data loss, check the box at the upper left named “Recover All”.
Step 3: Define Destination Folder and Transfer
The destination folder for the exported iPhone data can be self defined. Or you can just use the default folder. All the exported iPhone data from your iPhone can be transferred to your Mac computer by hitting the button “Recover to Mac”.
After the transferring finishes, the iPhone data is successfully backed up to your computer before the iOS 9 update. You are free of worrying about losing data accidentally due to the iOS 9 updating.
